Nutritional interventions are best done as a family. Making chances to the diet needs to involve the whole family. I always encourage that lifestyle and diet modifications take a whole family approach.

Parents are so busy being parents that they often put their own health issues on hold and totally focus on the needs of their children. Don’t forget- your health is important too! The healthier you are the easier it is to parent.

Adult mental health and nutrition is an area of great interest to me.  Many of my adult clients ask me if nutrition has anything to do with mental health. We are learning more from science regarding nutrition and mental health especially in the area of gut flora and its link to anxiety and depression. The Mediterranean diet with adequate levels of iron and zinc is also proving to be a great support system for mental health due to its anti-inflamatory properties. Research here.
