About Paula Tazzyman: Canberra/Queanbeyan Dietitian
I am a Canberra/Queanbeyan nutritional therapist who specialises in working with children with neurodiverse conditions.
I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994 with a Masters in Nutrition & Dietetics. I am a member of the Dietitian’s Australia (DA). I am committed to education and professional development as part of our accreditation. Keeping abreast of new research in the area of nutrition and neurodiversity is vital. I am constantly learning and discovering new facts so I can best support my clients.
It has been a treat to support neurodiverse children for 27 years. I was part of the team at Royal Far West Children’s Health Scheme for 13 years where I helped children and families from regional NSW. Further to working with neurodiverse clients, I had the pleasure to implement educational workshops including weight management and healthy eating for families as well as running cooking classes and supermarket tours.
I consider myself so fortunate to have been able to helped thousands of families improve the nutritional status of their children and optimise their health, concentration, learning ability and behaviour via dietary modifications.
I am passionate about the role nutrition has in supporting the total wellbeing and academic achievements of children as well as supporting families, especially mothers, in their nutritional wellness.
I truly love my job and would not want to be doing anything else in my professional life. I gain a great sense of professional satisfaction in the knowing that I have made a difference to children’s lives. This to me is priceless!
Public speaking about
One of my favourite things to do is public speaking. I have an active role in educating parents and therapist regarding the role nutrition plays in supporting neurodiverse children. I was asked, in 2011, to present at two Nation Early Intervention conferences. I was honoured and excited to raise the awareness of nutritional therapy.
In addition, I enjoy speaking to schools, support groups, childcare centres and other educational organisations regarding the role nutrition plays in supporting children’s brain development, brain function and behaviour. I have also facilitated many workshops regarding nutrition and Autism in conjunction with Autism Advisory Support Services NSW, Byron Bay and Wagga Wagga Early Intervention Services. As well as nutrition and ADHD workshops facilitated in conjunction with Addults with ADHD NSW.
Private Practice
I have worked as an Accredited Practising dietitian in private practice from 1997- 2013. I was part of the dymanic team at Abbotsford Family Medical Practice from 1997-2014.
I so enjoyed my role as the nutrition education consultant to Novasel Australia( 2011-2014) A role that allowed me to educate parents and health care professionals about the science behind Omega 3 fats.
In 2011-2014, I joined the wonderful team at the Autism Specialist Clinic in Wetherill Park in Sydney as well as began supporting clients through Northcott Disability Services, Illawarra.
Currently, I mostly support families online or in the Canberra/Queanbeyan region. Telehealth has been a wonderful tool to support families all over Australia gain nutritional support.

I was honoured to have been asked to be the monthly Nutrition and ASD contributor to Autism World ipad magazine. I was thrilled to be able to share my insights and tips to support autistic children.
